DIY Decorated Translucent Bag

Translucent bags are fun. I've been seeing them and wanting one of my own for a while now, haven't you? Here are a couple cute examples of some transparent bags :

I must admit though, I was a little hesitant to have all my junk out there for everyone to see.

From I Hate Blonde's Blog
I knew I wanted to get a clear bag, but I also wanted to spice it up a little bit. So how could I get the best of both worlds: a cute clear bag, and not to have everything in my purse showing? I came up with a plan:

From NastyGal's Fall lookbook
Stickers! Luckily for me, my boyfriend collects them. So as someone who likes to work on a budget my first stop was Value Village. I found a bag that was only partially transparent-perfect! And it was only $2.99.

Yes it's Mary Kay. Yes I cut this tag off immediately.

The first thing you'll need are some stickers.

Next, stuff your bag with something so it has a shape. I put a pillow in mine.

Then start sticking! Don't be afraid to overlap stickers, or cut them up to change the shape.

Last but not least, dress up and fill your bag with cute stuff. I really like keeping a scarf in the bag, then it's easy to disguise things. It's also great if you have a cute wallet or a few extra little pouches/pockets that you keep in your purse anyway.

Train Spotting in the Alliance Shoes DV8 by Dolce Vita

As summer continues to drift away, I'm not ready to let go. I'm going to keep wearing my dresses. So I paired this one with a fall fave: the chambray shirt. The shoes are really gorgeous to look at, but let me tell you-these are not for walking. These booties are DV8 by Dolce Vita, and they're called the Alliance shoe. The color is bone. It could be that mine are just a little too small, but as an experienced high heel wearer/walker these are the most uncomfortable pair of shoes I've ever put my foot into! But we all know I'll wear them again sometime. Maybe for a nice dinner or something that doesn't involve much walking.
The look was put together to make a dress that could be more formal into a more casual look.Try wearing a collared shirt over a bodycon dress for your own similar look. You can make it more casual by adding combat boots or a sneaker instead of heels.

My City in Color

Unfortunately it is time to face reality: summer is ending. But while it lasts, I'm going to wear bright colors.  For this look I wanted to create an assortment of color, without overdoing it. The key to this look was femininity. I chose a soft turquoise skirt with an ombre fade, and paired it with a floral headpiece and pink lipstick. What's more girly than that? For a little bit of edge I added neon heels and a leopard print bra to show through under the sheer black shirt. It is a little dangerous to pair a sheer skirt with a sheer shirt, but the look I wanted was soft and sweet.

Heels: Aldo from Nordstrom Rack
Ombre Fade Skirt: Forever 21
Black sheer top: Urban Outfitters
Leopard cotton bra: Ross
Earrings: Betsey Johnson (gift)
Floral Headpiece: DIY project (my tutorial HERE)

Blackmilk in the Sun

This look was inspired by the Mechanical Bones Leggings in White by Blackmilk Clothing. The easiest way to wear printed leggings is with a solid color top, since print mixing is a difficult skill. I paired my leggings with a faux leather peplum top for a hardcore look, and added Jeffrey Campbell buckle Litas to make it extra badass. For my accessories I chose skeleton pieces: a bone bracelet from Hot Topic, a few plastic bangles. and a hair clip made by gluing a plastic skeleton hand (found in my mom's basement) to a pin curl clip. The rest was up to Sacha of Shuttereye Images.

Look of the Day: Sheath Dress with a Collared Shirt

Inspiration:
This was an image on the banner of paperlime.com which I thought was such a cute way to transform a more formal/cocktail dress into a dress to wear to work, or in cooler weather.

Xpression:
For my look I decided to keep it simple with black and white and added pops of color. The dress I chose wasn't a conventional sheath dress, but a cute variation with a ruffled skirt. I chose neon yellow ballet flats, which are comfy for the office, and added purple earrings for more color (but you can't see them, because of my mega-black hair).

Pigtails at Hempfest

Inspired once again by the style movement known as "Kawaii" and the edgy looks I've been seeing lately I decided to bring back one of my high school hairstyles for Hempfest weekend.

Inspiration:

From Nylon Magazine Blog

From Instagram- the winner of a contest for Dolls Kill

Expression:

How I did this hairstyle: use small hairbands and make pigtails, then use bobby pins to pin sections up
strategically into the messiest bun you can imagine

Always accessorize with a smile. And orange lipstick if you can get away with it.

Guy's Celebrity Style: The Cuffed Pant

Here's a look that I'm growing more and more fond of: the cuffed pant. It shows off those cool new shoes you just got, and can be done with almost any kind of look. And although I'm seeing this mostly for men, there's no reason it isn't translatable into women's wear too (think boyfriend jeans).

I couldn't post about the beauty of the cuffed pant without giving a nod to the king of the cuff- Pharrell.

Pharrell cuffs his pants up ultra high with boots and polka dots!

Cuffed pants with casual sneaks and a sweatshirt. Oh and Miley Cyrus!

And last but not least, Pharrell even cuffs his pants in a suit.
